DAY O4 . MERCY

13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’14 “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” -Luke 18:13-14

-It’s a short prayer that we often forget about, but Jesus left it to us as an example. The prayer that was accepted in this parable was the one that was simple, humble and that cried out for mercy.

Thomas Merton once wrote that God is, “Mercy in mercy in mercy.”

Confess that you need that mercy. Share that same mercy you receive with others.

PRAY

Forgive is our sins as we forgive those who sin against us”
-In what way do need mercy today?
-Who specifically can you extend some mercy to today?
Practice this simple prayer a few times today: “God, have mercy on me, a sinner”
