Wednesday 1.13 | Mental Health

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:28-29

God is not surprised by the outcomes of His wonderful design living in a fallen world. He complexly interwove body, soul, and spirit. He knows that when one or more of these is not carefully balanced, it can leave you struggling with the impacts on your mental health. For many around the world, the past year has led to degenerating mental health – whether there was wholeness there to begin with or not. Has that been your experience? The experience of someone you love?

God promises you rest for your soul when you go to him. He loves you. Fall into his open arms and find peace. He loves you. His gentle, healing hands can provide an ease that nothing else in this world can. God loves you. He is there in the crippling darkness, in the smothering fog, and the overwhelming chaos. He loves you.

Set aside 10-15 minutes to pray today.

What burdens do you carry with you that have put rest far from your soul? Tell God about them. Ask God to teach you to rest with him.

Pray that those who are struggling with their mental health (as well as their family and friends who are living the struggle with them) would find rest for their souls in God.

It is very easy for the Enemy to trouble our minds when we isolate ourselves from other followers of Jesus. Connect with another believer today to share your burdens and joys.
