  • 6:30pm Monday 9/9 @ Farignoli Park w/Ashley and Adam – 945 Smith Street, PVD

Opening Prayer

O God, the King Eternal, whose light divides the day from the night and turns the shadow of death into morning, drive far from us all wrong desires, incline our hearts to keep your law, and guide our feet into the way of peace, that having done your will with cheerfulness throughout the day, we may when night comes, rejoice to give you thanks. Amen.

Quiet

Spend a Moment in Silent, Centering Prayer. Become aware of the presence of God.

Scripture

“To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:

These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. 15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. 17 You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. 18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.

19 Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. 20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

21 To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne. 22 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” – Revelation 3:14-22

Pause. Remind yourself you are in God’s presence. And read again slowly, perhaps out loud. Ask the Lord, “What are you saying to me today? How does this word speak into my life.” Pay attention to anything the Holy Spirit highlights as you read. Is there a rebuke, an encouragement, an invitation to receive? A command to obey? Thank the Lord for his love for you. Sit in his presence, and give his word access to your heart.

Quiet

Spend a few more moments quietly with Jesus, listening to anything He wants to say, or simply just being with Him in his presence.

Closing Prayer

Lord, thank you for your pursuit of your people. Even when we close the door, you remain there knocking. We ask you to pursue the next generation, out of your great mercy. Look with kindness on young people, inside and outside the church, who do not yet have a saving relationship with you and draw them to yourself. We ask for you to use parents to disciple their children, we ask you to raise up elders to disciple those who are younger, and for a generation to rise up that seeks your face. Send revival upon our city and region and let it begin with young people. Equip and prepare your church to disciple those who come out of darkness and into your glorious light. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Quiet

Spend a few more moments quietly with Jesus, listening to anything He wants to say, or simply just being with Him in his presence.

Closing Prayer

Lord, because of my blindness I’m not even able to see my need. I live in a culture that is wealthy and self-sufficient…and yet in the spiritual realm, the truth is I am wretched, poor, naked, and blind. My healing begins by acknowledging my desperate need for you. And so this morning, I do just that. Heal my blindness, clothe me with your righteousness, and give me gold refined in the fire. Help me to become more and more aware of my need for you this year and more quick to ask you for help. Thank you that you are generous. Thank you that there is nothing I truly need that you cannot provide.  Amen.

  • Pray for freedom from addictions and attachments to lesser loves and substitutes for God. Pray for growth in holiness and detachment from the world.

Quiet

Spend a few more moments quietly with Jesus, listening to anything He wants to say, or simply just being with Him in his presence.

Closing Prayer

Lord, thank you that you stand at the door of my heart, knocking. Thank you that the answer to my lukewarmness is not increased intensity or activity but rather greater receptivity…the opening of the door of my soul to you. Come, Jesus, into the home of my heart and have fellowship with me. Lord, I open to you this morning every door of every room, even the rooms I have kept you out. Lord, help me surrender fully and completely, every aspect of my life to you. Amen.
